Introduction

Xcel Modifieds compete at a large number of tracks in different states. There are more then 200 cars that have been created since the beginnings of the series. In order to inform and maintain the series it is imperative (and REQUIRED) that some information be shared with Xcel Chassis annually or when call for.

Questions about any information can be answered with a phone call to the Xcel Chassis owner Doug Borger by using the CONTACT US page

Justification for Registration

Simplest Explanation: Xcel Chassis needs to have some type of system in place in order to identify and notify.

Plus and Minus To Registration

Registration is free as of 2023. There is no cost to race teams to post the information here on the website.

Benefits of registration

Teams that are registered and in good standing will automatically gain these benefits:

  • Information in a timely manner of important or everyday communications
  • Sponsor package decals and any other paperwork mailed to you
  • A comprehensive listing of teams and car numbers for the entire Xcel community
  • The ability for you to promote your race team and your sponsors
  • Even if you are not running a weekly track or tour race track you will earn monetary payout for the points position that you finish at that track. For example, if you finish in the points at say Thunder Mountain you will earn a points payout for that position even if it is not a sanctioned track. As a side note, this has been happening already and not publicized.
  • Inclusion for the Xcel Tour and Weekly Track points payouts and Poker Series

W-9 Form

Xcel Chassis requires* each team to fill out and file a W-9 form along with registration.

The form can be filled out and mailed or presented in person at a tour event. Teams that wish to attach the from can email it to registration@xcelchassis.net

*This is a separate requirement from a racetrack request. If you are competing at a racetrack and they are funding the purse, you may also have to complete a W-9 form to meet their requirements.

It is required in order to receive payout for any Xcel event.

What is a W-9 Form?

If you would like to know more information about the W-9 Form:

This document is available here on this site, or on the IRS Site using the link above.

Again, it is suggested that you fill out this document on something with a bigger screen and while it is possible, we think a cell phone is not a good fit.

Use button to open document and you can print it or fill out the form directly in the window and print the completed form.

End or W-9 Section

Inspection is done free at no cost to a race team. If you have questions and would like an inspection throughout the racing season you can ask to have reinspection at any race.

Two things about racing everyone can agree:

  1. No one wants to see anyone injured
  2. Controversy over disqualification takes away from the sport

Where

If you are able, it is highly suggested to have inspection done at the Xcel Chassis shop. Most teams will check two boxes and have a refreshed body and Xcel will check the car for compliance while it is there.
If the distance is an issue, you can also have your car inspected at a pre-season practice or lastly at the first competition you attend. It is very difficult to inspect a multitude of cars at one time, so all teams are encouraged NOT to wait until competition time for an inspection.

When

Xcel Chassis inspects cars for compliance and safety. The rules show there are seals in place and Xcel will document and check seals during the winter break and at times during the racing season.

In addition to the seals, other things like electrical and body requirements along with dimensions and component compliance will also be reviewed and any issues disclosed so they can be solved.

The goal of inspection is to inform before it becomes a disqualification.

A safety inspection includes dates of belts, and gear. Bring your helmet, neck restraint and suit to the inspection. Xcel will also look at your seat to see that it is properly mounted and if you have added weight to the car make sure that it is properly secured inside the frame rails.

Before inspection we recommend that you preview the Xcel Modified – Rules to see that your car is in compliance, especially if you have recently purchased the car and it is your first season.

Race Day Inspections

Unless specifically told, the top finishers are required to report to the Xcel Chassis trailer (or track designated location) immediately after the finish of a race. An Xcel designated official will do a technical inspection to ensure compliance with the rules. Any aspect of the car can be included in that inspection including seals, fuel, tires, dimensions and so on.

Inspection is not restricted to the top finishers.
The official reserves the right to inspect any car at any time.

Infractions could lead to penalties including:

Disqualification

Confiscation of illegal parts

Loss of points

Forfeit of any money won

Suspension of driver

Enforcement and severity for rules infractions will be determined and handed out by the Xcel designated official. Officials reserve the right NOT to enforce a rule but will explain the reasons behind that decision to all cars in the inspection pool. An example would be a car that is out of dimension due to damage suffered during the race to no fault of the driver or a tire that is going flat as the car sits in inspection.
In some cases, the official reserves the right to pursue a private conversation with a group of drivers who have been in the series long term before disclosing a decision.
